Mists and mellow fruitfulness - Autumn weddingsBonjour my pretties! How are you? Did you enjoy our very brief late Summer on Wednesday? Wasn't it lovely?! Now we're firmly in Autumn (boohiss!) we thought you, our darling readers, might like to go a little bit seasonal, because using seasonal flowers and foods for your wedding is not only kinder to the environment but can also work out a little less expensive. Plus you can bask in the warm glow of being a tad like Le Trousseau’s fave swoon-worthy chef; Valentine Warner! We believe the devil is most definitely in the detail when it comes to wowing your wedding guests, so why not make the most of the fabulous foods and flowers that are out there this Autumn and make your special day a seasonal spectacular?!
A-Z (or almost!) of seasonal foods for Autumn Team with meaty options such as new season lamb, venison and game for the carnivores at your wedding or Dover Sole for Fish-o-philes. And there’s no doubting Autumn is an amazing time for vegetables, so keeping your non meat eating guests ultra-happy couldn’t be easier either. If you're able to have a say over your food and drink (and we hope you are!) or are even doing the catering yourself, then why not also look into your local community to see if there are any nearby farms who make their own fruit juices or products that you can support and celebrate? We love the idea of serving champagne topped with local raspberries, delighting guests with mini pumpkin favours sourced from a nearby farm or how about gathering globe artichokes to use as a wonderful alternative place card holder, tied with our pretty Just Married ribbon? And who could resist a tasty late evening snack of roasted chestnuts collected from your very own neighbourhood? Mmmm.
Big Autumn blooms for a big impact Whilst many brides opt for classic floral centrepieces and button holes such as roses or lilies (and they're classics for a reason!) on their big day, it’s always marvellous to see stunning blooms such as hydrangeas and orchids at this time of year. And more often than not, choosing flowers that complement the season mean they’re generally not as expensive as their counterparts. Why not choose a few different posies and dot them around your venue in our Etched Glass Jar or hurricane vases for an eclectic display with a vintage feel? "Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns." So said George Eliot and we couldn’t agree more! I’ll be looking at the festive fabulousness you can use for wintery weddings as soon as December is upon us, so keep an eye on Ooh la la for more w-day inspiration...
