Our Wedding Day Ooh la la - Le Trousseau's blog

Little Miss Luxe would like you to do her a favour…

Quite literally! No, please do! For something I originally considered a somewhat small detail of our wedding, favours are very quickly turning into an all-encompassing nightmare (well, maybe not that bad really…) where our nuptials are concerned! I've been to my fair share of weddings and I know how much time and effort has gone into carefully selecting the perfect thank you tokens for guests and I've been genuinely sad for the happy couple to see so many people leave them on the table at the end of the night.

So controversially, we’ve been wondering; maybe we go without favours? That’s been the advice from a lot of people, presumably because a)that’s what they did and it was fine, or b) they were just like that happy couple who were quite frankly, a tad peeved that all their hard work was simply left behind. Personally, I like favours though. So I’ve been on the lookout for something that doesn't cost the earth, that people will genuinely want to take away with them, shows a genuine 'thank you' to all our guests, is unique to us and brings together our theme. Hmmm.

Mrs R summed it up very well earlier this year in this blog post. I completely agree that in this 'age of austerity' it makes sense to have multi-tasking favours - and as we have rather a modest budget I would like to find something that is both favour, place setting and table decoration! Turn to any page of any wedding magazine and you'll be overwhelmed with the latest trends and tips for making your tables wow your guests, but for me its classic simplicity that really makes a difference.

My beloved and I have spent many an evening pondering just what to do. We've toyed with all manner of plans from boxes to bags (still undecided), pots of herbs (will they wilt?) from home made chocolates (will they melt?) to jars of sweets (too many e-numbers?). I know only too well how easy it is to get carried away with an idea that in theory sounds like it will be cost effective, only to discover that once it all comes together you've blown the budget sky high! What we have learned though is that your day is most importantly all about you and the best theme will be a perfect summation of the pair of you. Aaaw.

At this point, we still haven’t decided on what we are going to do regarding the ‘F’ word, and to be honest we've not got a huge amount of time on our hands! We’re sure about our colours and our overall theme so just need to make that final decision on how best to say ‘thank you’. So that's our challenge - a favour that's not budget busting, is most definitely multi-tasking, fits into our ‘look’ and is uniquely 'us'. Perhaps our first formal planning meeting at our beautiful venue will pull our ideas together (fingers crossed!), but in the meantime, why not get in touch at littlemissluxe@letrousseau.co.uk with your thoughts! Please!

Big ‘it’s almost Christmas and I’m feeling all warm and snug’ love,

Little Miss Luxe xxx
