Our Wedding Day Ooh la la - Le Trousseau's blog

Make your wedding favours work for you

As a bride to be you are likely turning your mind to the issue of favours. Their potential to make guests smile (even more) and carry home a charming keepsake from your special day is pretty much irresistible. They’re the perfect way to share the love.

Beyond that, favours are also a good way to inject some of your personality into your special day. Along with your choice of venue, dress, readings, theme and overall decor, your favours present another opportunity to make your wedding you.

More than just a favour
I am a huge fan of wedding accessories that multitask and, without too much effort, it’s easy to find a favour to do just that. If you’re really clever favours can work as place settings and table decorations too.

Keep it simple
For a touch of understated elegance, keeping your tables clutter-free is a good place to start. Opt for a favour you can fasten a cute luggage label on to (to write guests names on) or could be tied with a pretty ribbon to cutlery or a napkin.

Use glass to add a decadent touch
Glassware never fails to look gorgeous and can be a unique way of decorating the table too. The twinkling of tea lights as they reflect from pretty perfume bottles or glass trinkets is simply decadent.

Flowers for a rustic feel
You may consider offering some beautiful blooms for guests to take away. Though perhaps one for the ladies at your wedding, herbs would be equally as good for the gents. Use small hurricane vases, jars and other assorted vessels to decorate your tables and invite guests to take one home with them; a treat that would be perfect for a more rustic, informal day.

Bringing a theme together
If your table names are themed, then keep a look-out for co-ordinating favours. A literary theme may inspire bookmarks or stationery; a travel theme could be complemented with luggage tags or tickets. The devil is most definitely in the detail.

I believe it's the small things that make the big day. So take a moment with your lovely other half, a glass of something chilled and a notepad and think about what really reflects the two of you.
